This role performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. The technologist operates equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines, ensuring the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes. The position involves ensuring accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures, conducting image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors, and implementing radiation safety guidelines and proper radiation protection practices. Excellent patient care and education are provided before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures. The ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system is necessary. Additional duties may be assigned. Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on facility needs, to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Specific duties may include performing basic diagnostic radiology tasks, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures. Occupational Medicine clinics may require additional duties such as performing routine testing, sampling, drug screens, breath alcohol testing, and audiograms, as well as administrative and/or clinical support.
