Operates radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body. This is an On-Call position. The role involves operating x-ray equipment including fluoroscopy, c-arm, dental equipment and portable, as assigned, for each exam in accordance with radiation safety guidelines. It also includes positioning and instructing patients for each anatomical view using appropriate immobilization, support, and protective devices, and applying proper sterile technique during procedures. The technologist will prepare the room for procedures, including contrast media and barium setup and administration per radiologist protocol, and assist providers during examination and treatment. Image processing using DR and CR readers, sending images to PACS, and demonstrating knowledge of basic PACS software are key responsibilities. The role also involves completing clerical and billing functions, maintaining and stocking supplies, ensuring a clean and orderly environment using aseptic technique and infection control, and reporting malfunctioning equipment. Additionally, the position includes orienting and training new staff, working with students, participating in departmental performance improvement and survey readiness activities, and demonstrating behavior consistent with Radiology service standards. Patient care and education according to the patient population served is also a part of this role.
