This position operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain quality digital images of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians. The role involves confirming patient identity, checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and creating Radiology Modules. The technologist will greet and escort patients, prepare them for procedures using aseptic technique, position them for examinations, select exposure factors, process images, and practice radiation protection. Responsibilities also include performing diagnostic radiographic procedures, potentially operating bone density equipment, recording pertinent information, entering orders into the electronic medical record, responding to emergencies, cleaning the work area and equipment, performing image management duties within PACS and NextGen, and documenting patient information accurately. Additional duties include assisting with patient encounter forms, sending letters and reminders, serving as a liaison between patient and physician, ensuring timely follow-up, and maintaining compliance with requirements and clinic standards. Support may be provided to clerical and clinical staff, including answering phones, managing messages, completing medical records requests, working the fax server/mail, and assisting with clinical support tasks as outlined in the Clinical Support Staff Scope of Practice document. The role also involves performing other assigned duties within the scope of Radiology Technology and/or Clinical Densitometry certification/registration/licensure.
