About The Position

Perform x-rays for diagnostic purposes. Follow established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. This role involves preparing patients for radiologic procedures, operating radiologic equipment, and ensuring radiation safety measures are followed. The technologist will also perform clerical duties, maintain supplies, and interact with patients and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Radiologic Technology Certificate Program, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Current West Virginia state licensure required.
  • Current ARRT certification required.
  • CPR- BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of radiologic safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Communication- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills- Proficient ability to use a computer and electronic medical record.
  • Confidentiality- Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Customer Service Oriented- Friendly, cheerful, and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patient’s and other’s needs while following office policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures, including escorting them to rooms, providing instructions, and assisting with positioning.
  • Explain procedures to patients and observe them for care, safety, and comfort during exams.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding radiologic exams and procedures.
  • Obtain pertinent information in an objective and professional manner.
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic images, adjusting controls for exposure time and distance.
  • Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices for patients and team members.
  • Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order and report malfunctions.
  • Perform various clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
  • Provide radiologic imaging with the least amount of radiation exposure while shielding the patient, when appropriate.
  • Utilize ALARA principles to ensure occupational safety.
  • Ensure optimal quality images are obtained following proper protocols.
  • Maintain a clean patient and work environment.
  • Adhere to ARRT Code of Ethics when providing patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education activities and provided in-services.
  • Maintain national and state licensures.
