About The Position

Operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required for positions filled after April 18, 2010.

• Hospital experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by relieving anxiety, translating the examination into layman's terms, and ensuring consent forms are obtained if necessary.
• Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and procedures, positions patients, and arranges immobilization and supportive devices.
• Adjusts x-ray equipment, operates controls for correct exposure, and monitors patient's condition, reporting any abnormalities to the Radiologist.
• Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information, monitors patient's condition during the procedure, and operates equipment for image transfer and archival.
• Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records.
• Utilizes film markers to ensure images are properly marked as right or left and legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
• Enters exams onto the daily log sheet as needed and completes correct tracking steps for each examination.
• Performs related duties as required.
