The X-Ray Technician performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider. This role involves safely performing provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including proper patient positioning, immobilization, and radiation protection. The technician will set up and adjust equipment, handle patients with safety and professionalism, and accurately document patient encounters in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They will also determine and select proper electronic and technical factors to safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment. Maintaining clinical and administrative skills is essential for patient care and daily operations. Additional duties may include collecting patient specimens, running point-of-care lab tests, and potentially traveling to other facilities or adjusting work hours as needed. The role also requires directing and practicing sterile technique, ordering supplies, disposing of contaminated items, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out, and performing scribing duties on an as-needed basis.
