About The Position

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. This 100-bed hospital serves the communities in and around Martin County. Here, you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment. Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. A caregiver in this position works between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm (could be 3-12 hour shifts with some weeks being 4-10 hour shifts). Rotating weekends and holidays are required. Schedules are provided a month in advance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R)
  • Florida licensed as a General Radiographer (RAD)
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatories

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology. Procedures may include routine radiology examinations, motion-free exams, portable/bedside examinations, fluoroscopy and invasive exams, OR and ED procedures and bone density procedures (DEXA).
  • Regulate and operate equipment.
  • Review prep information with patients, explain the procedure and obtain written consent.
  • Document pertinent clinical patient information, such as medical history and allergies.
  • Obtain written consent for all invasive and contrast procedures from the patient, parent or legal guardian prior to the exam.
  • Demonstrate a calm and understanding approach to ease any fear or anxiety.
  • Transport patients to and from the department/their room and contact nurses about patients who are connected to devices or monitors.
  • Interact, communicate and collaborate with nursing caregivers to obtain signed consent forms, assist with exams and prep and determine the length of time the patient will be in the department.
  • Check written orders from physicians before the procedure and document in the chart after the procedure.
  • Report any equipment problems, safety issues or patient complaints.
