Requirements

  • Certificate/Diploma Radiography required and Associate's Degree Radiography
  • Radiologic Technologist and Technician [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Experience in radiology technology 2-3 years preferred
  • Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Maintains composure at all times.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written, and communication skills; must be able to read and write in English.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, principles of radiation physics, ALARA, radiographic equipment and positioning.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs (i.e., linen, supplies, patients).
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and infection control situations.
  • Displays a positive attitude and professional appearance; exemplifies flexibility and willingness to adapt to the operational needs of the department and MGB.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
  • Board eligible through the American Board of Radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures using radiographic equipment while following established safety and imaging protocols.
  • Explain exams, procedures, and safety expectations to patients in a clear, compassionate, and patient-centered manner.
  • Confirm patient identity, exam orders, and relevant patient history to ensure accurate imaging and documentation.
  • Operate a variety of imaging equipment, including portable, fluoroscopic, and diagnostic radiology equipment as needed.
  • Adjust imaging equipment and technical settings appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images safely and accurately.
  • Ensure images are properly labeled, documented, and successfully transmitted through PACS systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams to support exceptional patient care.
  • Work primarily within a designated radiography area (Inpatient, Outpatient, or Emergency Department), with opportunities to support additional locations or MGB sites as needed following appropriate training.
  • Contribute both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment while assisting with additional responsibilities as assigned.
