The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection, according to local, state and federal standards. This role involves properly identifying patients and exams, performing diagnostic radiographic services with maximum care, and evaluating technical quality. The technologist is responsible for the technical continuity of care and educating patients on radiological procedures. They also assist in data gathering for the Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program, ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available, and adhere to downtime procedures for excellent patient care continuity. The role also includes maintaining personal professional development through in-services and continuing education, and providing educational information to patients about their examinations. Annual peer review of films must meet department standards. The technologist must be knowledgeable regarding patient condition, history, and pertinent information for proposed examinations.
