About The Position

Under the direction of the department director and the Chief, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved two year program.
  • Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiology Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technology.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience.
  • Must possess RI license.
  • ARRT certification.
  • CPR certification (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Updates all patients' information in the HIS/RIS System.
  • Completes all information needed for interpretation on forms (History, Preg & Req).
  • Reports all equipment malfunctions to the manager or Bio-Med.
  • Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
  • Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information, as evidenced by image taken.
  • Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert any party to possible contradictions for procedure.
  • Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam.
  • Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality images using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standard.
  • Understands and is able to utilize all x-ray rooms in the main department.
  • Performs various clerical duties including, but not limited to: Verification of information (to include reading and verifying physician written order) and exams performed, using CR, DR, and PACs immediately after completing exams.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
  • All required safety education programs have been attended.
