About The Position

Beloit Health System is looking to add a Radiology Technologist to our Team! This role provides patient services using imaging modalities as prescribed by a physician. The technologist performs radiographic and other related imaging procedures, producing images for interpretation by a physician, while applying principles of radiation protection. The role involves evaluating radiographs for technical quality, exercising professional judgment, and providing patient care essential to radiographic procedures. The technologist will operate diagnostic imaging equipment, position and immobilize patients as necessary, and select/calculate exposure factors according to age-specific guidelines. They will also administer or assist with contrast media, initiate basic life support if necessary, and perform quality control checks. Maintaining accurate patient records with confidentiality, ensuring the work area is neat and stocked, and supervising/instructing radiology students are also key aspects of this position. The role requires demonstrating proficiency with computer software, interacting positively with patients and colleagues, and maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with Beloit Health System and OSHA requirements. Confidentiality of patient and employee information is paramount.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited school of Radiologic Technology and AART registered.
  • Licensed in the State of Wisconsin.
  • CPR Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to problem-solve and function independently.

  • Must adhere to established to regulatory agencies, Beloit Health System, and department policies, rules and regulations.
  • Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal, financial and medical information about patients and if applicable the same about co-workers.
  • Personal protective equipment required; such as, radiation monitoring film badge, lead aprons, lead glasses, lead gloves, thyroid collars, goggles, gloves, gowns, masks, face shields and CPR mask.

Responsibilities

  • Operates other equipment/devices as appropriate.
  • Positions patients.
  • Immobilizes patients as necessary.
  • Selects and/or calculates exposure factors according to age specific guidelines.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Evaluates radiography for technical quality and patient identification.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Administers or assists with administration of contrast media, as required.
  • Initiates basic life support procedures for patients if necessary.
  • Ensures proper documentation of exam, technical factors, repeat/reject information, quality improvement, etc.
  • Performs quality control checks as required.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and file with confidentiality.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned area ensuring the work area is neat, orderly and stocked.
  • Supervises, assists, instructs and communicates effectively with radiology students.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.
  • Interacts in a positive, responsible and cooperative manner with patients, physicians, co-workers and managers.
  • Portrays a positive image for the Beloit Health System by dressing appropriately for the position.
  • Wears photo I.D. badge for proper identification by others.
  • Maintains a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Attends mandatory safety training sessions and adheres to Beloit Health System and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Ensures security of PHI.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information and records, Beloit Health System financial information and business practices.
  • Maintains 12 ECE hours per year or 24 ECE hours every two years as required by ARRT.
