About The Position

The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic examinations, ensuring the technical quality of images and maintaining X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order. This role involves preparing patients for procedures, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, and managing supplies. The position also requires adherence to department policies, documentation of evaluations and treatment plans, and continuous professional growth through education and participation in meetings. The technologist will be exposed to X-ray radiation and chemical fumes daily and will spend the majority of their shift standing and walking, with the need to lift or assist in lifting patients of all weight ranges.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible by the ARRT.
  • Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must use good body mechanics to independently lift or in certain situations, assist with lifting/transferring patients of all weight ranges.
  • Must have the ability to read physicians orders and observe patients; utilize inspection skills for evaluating exposed radiographs; must be able to read patient's ID bands.
  • Must be able to receive/comprehend telephone calls; must be able to hear normal conversation to communicate with patients.
  • Must have clear speech to communicate with nursing, physicians, other health care workers, all fellow employees, patients and their families and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety.
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
  • Performs radiographic examinations.
  • Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
  • Checks images including evaluating film for technical quality.
  • Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; notifies supervisor of major malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room.
  • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
