About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. The role involves operating equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines, and ensuring the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes. The technologist will ensure accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures and conduct image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors. They will implement radiation safety guidelines and conduct proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process. Additionally, the role requires delivering excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, and the ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned is also expected. Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. The technologist will perform diagnostic radiology procedures, basic diagnostic radiology tasks, and be aware of general radiology protocols. They may also perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Requirements

  • Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality control, and radiation protection is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
