The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for obtaining and examining requisitions for every exam to be aware of additional information such as procedure requested, patient's condition, special notes or comments. They will question patients before procedures to obtain a pertinent history and document it on the requisition. The technologist will also screen and document possible pregnancy on all female patients of child-bearing age. They will introduce themselves, explain procedures to every patient, and reassure them while attempting to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety. The role involves selecting proper film, placing proper markers, using lead gonadal shields or protective apparel, and collimation. The technologist will position x-ray equipment at the proper distance and angle from the patient's body to present a clear, well-defined view, and direct the central ray on the specified area to consistently produce radiographs of good diagnostic quality. They must demonstrate competence in required positioning of anatomy and the ability to adapt to varying patient conditions, review the patient's condition, and determine the proper exposure factor for each radiograph. This position also requires maintaining annual CPR certification, operating all equipment safely, using Universal Precautions, and ensuring IDNS and ARRT licensure remain current. The role involves assisting others as requested, using time to the department's advantage, and readily volunteering for additional work. Demonstrating knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire, safety, infection control, and QI plan is also essential.
