About The Position

Performs a variety of radiographic procedures applying ionizing radiation. This position is bonus eligible. The role involves assisting in various procedures such as ERCPs, video fluoroscopies, all OR procedures, Lumbar punctures, bronchoscopies, enterocolitis, sialo grams, rhizotomy, facet blocks, endoscopy-tube placements or injections, t-tube cholangiogram, major trauma/trauma bay, neo-natal ICU, and pacing lab. The technologist also performs all critical care procedures and demonstrates competency in procedures like arthrograms, myelograms, venograms, minor trauma, and troubleshooting complex studies. They are responsible for troubleshooting equipment problems, obtaining nursing assessments when nursing is unavailable, assessing patient condition and cooperation, documenting infiltrates and reactions, and ensuring image quality before sending to the radiologist. The role also includes operating the PACS system, documenting information in PACS or EPIC, indicating no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time, adding surgical charges, and achieving patient satisfaction by adhering to Behavior Essentials. The technologist will also perform other duties as assigned, promote patient care and safety, ensure smooth patient flow, proper equipment use, and maintain good employee, physician, and supervisor relationships. They will also assist staff technologists in areas of need due to shortages or time off and inform patients and families of delays.

Requirements

Completion of accredited radiology program
ARRT Registered
SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
CPR

Responsibilities

Assist in performing ERCP's, video fluoroscopies, all OR procedures, Lumbar punctures, bronchoscopies, enterocolitis, sialo grams, rhizotomy, facet blocks, endoscopy-tube placements or injections, t-tube cholangiogram, major trauma/trauma bay, neo-natal ICU, pacing lab.
Perform all critical care procedures.
Demonstrate competency in arthrograms, myelograms, venograms, minor trauma and troubleshoot complex studies.
Troubleshoot equipment problems.
Obtain nursing assessment while nursing is unavailable.
Access patient’s condition and level of cooperation and makes appropriate judgment of proper care.
Notify nurse and document all infiltrates and reactions.
Quality check images before sending to radiologist to include markers, all pertinent information needed for appropriate dictation.
Document additional information in PACS or EPIC as needed before marking ready to read.
Restart, program and release air from patient IVAC's.
Respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
Stay abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Promote patient care and safety within the department of responsibility.
Ensure smooth workflow of patient flow and proper care and use of equipment and materials.
Work within department to ensure good employee, physician and supervisor relationships.
Solve personnel problems with related areas.
Work with staff technologist in areas of need due to shortages, FMLA, PTO and sick time.
Inform patients and families of all delays.
Write additional information in PACS or EPIC as needed.
Arrive patient and charges procedure and supplies when exam is completed, end exam.
Indicate no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
Add surgical charges when needed.
Operate the PAC’s system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive.
