About The Position

Harborview Medical Center – Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST, MRI. This position is for a Per Diem role with a specific work schedule. The Radiology Services department at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography).

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA-approved school, AND registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examinations, explains the procedure and answers patient's questions.
  • Screens patients for any contraindication to MRI exam.
  • Reviews patient medical history on exam request, consults physician as necessary to ensure proper exam for each patient.
  • Prescribes proper scanning parameters for the most common MRI exams with the assistance of documented or computer prescribed protocols.
  • Determines optimal imaging options for most common MRI exams to minimize artifacts and decrease scan time.
  • Post process if needed.
  • Calculate and administer appropriate contrast for exam.
  • Administers contrast under supervision of Radiologist.
  • Assures that patients are properly scheduled in Radiology Information System (RIS), and exams are completed with proper billing.
  • Assures that exam is filmed, archived and sent to PACS properly.
  • Monitors equipment to ensure a diagnostic exam.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs basic system malfunctions.
  • Practices equipment safety policies and procedures.
  • Restocks rooms of all supplies as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.
