About The Position

IWK Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist II specializing in Mammography. This role is responsible for operating radiological and accessory equipment for mammography, performing quality screening and diagnostic mammography with minimal supervision, and displaying independent judgment. The technologist will perform radiological procedures for medical diagnosis, including assessing requisitions, obtaining patient history, selecting techniques, positioning patients, operating X-Ray equipment, adhering to radiation safety practices, carrying out sterile techniques when required, and performing clerical duties. The position is located in Halifax and is a temporary, full-time, long-assignment role until September 01, 2027.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology required.
  • Current registration or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) is required.
  • Current registration or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) required.
  • Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team, required.
  • A high degree of mental and visual acuity, as well as reasonable manual dexterity is required.
  • Must be willing to obtain continuing education as part of CAR Mammography Accreditation.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Mammography experience preferred.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.

Responsibilities
