About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Radiology Technologist 1, Inpt to join their Imaging Sciences-General X-Ray department. This is a per diem position with scheduled hours as needed. The role involves producing high-quality X-ray images through safe and efficient patient exams, adhering to provider orders and departmental policies. The technologist will utilize their understanding of human anatomy, x-ray positioning, and immobilization devices. This is an entry-level position (Band One) requiring training and supervision, with opportunities for advancement based on demonstrated proficiency and departmental needs. Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
  • Maintains current NYS licensure and ARRT certification with CE credits as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technologists new to URMC Imaging Department who require training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist.
  • Orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to progress towards proficient and competent performance of required tasks of a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Independent responsibility for performing general section studies in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work while providing high quality images for radiologist interpretation.
  • To be eligible for advancement consideration, technologist must be in good standing.
  • Readiness for movement in the bands is assessed by the General X-Ray manager and supervisor upon successful demonstration of knowledge and task proficiency as defined in the career ladder.
  • Movement to a higher band is based on departmental need requires final approval from the Imaging Sciences Clinical Director of Operations in collaboration with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies.
  • Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.
  • Prepares room and patient per order, properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high-quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam-specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high-quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
