Our client, an established healthcare organization, is seeking a certified Radiologic Technologist for an onsite, 90-day contract engagement in Waterloo, Iowa. The role supports a busy diagnostic imaging department serving inpatient, outpatient, and emergency populations. Requirements

  • ARRT certification and registration in Radiography are required, along with any state credential required to practice in Iowa.
  • Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program is required.
  • Prior experience performing diagnostic radiography in a hospital or clinical setting is required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Competent with PACS and radiology information systems.
  • Demonstrate strong positioning skills, sound judgment about image quality and repeat criteria, and the physical capability to assist with patient transfers and to operate portable equipment.
  • Reliable attendance and clear communication with radiologists, nursing staff, and patients are essential.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional ARRT credentials in CT, mammography, or MRI are preferred.
  • Cross-training potential is valued.
  • Trauma or emergency department imaging experience is viewed favorably.
  • Experience with operating room and C-arm fluoroscopy.
  • Familiarity with multiple PACS platforms.
  • Prior contract or travel technologist experience are all advantageous.
  • Willingness to work evening, night, weekend, or on-call rotations is valued, as departments of this size cover imaging around the clock.
  • Experience with digital radiography and computed radiography systems.
  • Comfort with portable imaging on nursing units and in the ICU.
  • A track record of low repeat rates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations across a full range of anatomical areas, positioning patients accurately, selecting appropriate technical factors, and producing images that meet the department's diagnostic quality standards on the first attempt wherever possible.
  • Apply ALARA principles rigorously, use shielding and collimation appropriately, verify pregnancy status per protocol, and monitor your own dosimetry, protecting patients, colleagues, and yourself throughout every procedure.
  • Support portable and operating room imaging as required, assist radiologists with fluoroscopic and contrast studies, prepare and administer contrast media within scope and protocol, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Verify orders and patient identity, explain procedures clearly to reduce anxiety, process and transmit images through PACS, maintain accurate records in the radiology information system, perform routine equipment quality-control checks, and report equipment faults promptly.
  • Manage patient flow through the imaging department efficiently, coordinating with nursing units, the emergency department, and scheduling staff to sequence examinations sensibly and keep wait times reasonable.
  • Handle patient transport and transfer safely, using appropriate lifting aids and assistance for patients with mobility limitations, and adapt technique for trauma, pediatric, bariatric, and critically ill patients.
