Requirements

High school diploma required; and completion of Radiography program from an AMA accredited Radiography school
Florida State Radiography License required
Certification from ARRT required
BLS CPR certification required
At least one year of Acute Care Pediatrics or Children's Hospital experience

Nice To Haves

PALS and NRP is a plus

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic procedures in an outpatient setting.
Counsel patients on radiographic examinations.
Lift and correctly position patients onto examination tables in order to achieve desired radiographic results.
Determine proper technical factors such as voltage, current, exposure time, and focal distance based on patient size, physical condition and suspected pathology.
Adjust lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient’s anatomy.
Select and load proper film.
Position X-ray equipment at correct distance and operate equipment according to specific diagnostic procedures.
Operate portable X-ray equipment and use special equipment such as tomography.
Verify all patient films, examination requisitions and records are properly completed.
Process film, reload cassettes and review developed film for quality.
Check equipment and accessories to ensure proper operation. Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
Transport patients as required.
Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner. Regularly check to ensure adequate diagnostic supplies are available.
