About The Position

This is a 0.4 FTE position, scheduled to work 16 hours per week. Performs a variety of patient services, administrative duties and general office work for the Radiology Department. Assists with patient positioning for MRI, Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and Nuclear Medicine procedures. Conducts screenings for MRI and CT Safety and Contrast Administration and enforces safety measures in the MRI and CT environment. Provides aid during the capture of high-quality diagnostic X-ray images, chaperones sensitive ultrasound procedures and MRI visual checks, and facilitates communication with internal and external personnel to coordinate care and troubleshoot issues related to radiology patients and/or equipment. Orders and maintains Radiology supplies, turns over prep rooms and maintains patient flow throughout the radiology department. Explains procedures, verifies forms, transfers patients safely, positions them correctly, and provides any post-exam instructions within specified timeframes. Assists in accurately documenting procedures to ensure the protection of patient health information (PHI) and the integrity of data. This position involves working collaboratively under the guidance of department leaders, technologists, and nurses to provide exceptional patient care and uphold the highest standards in medical imaging.

Responsibilities

  • Executes patient positioning for MRI, Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Helps prepare the scan room during MRI, Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Conducts screenings for MRI and CT Safety and Contrast Administration, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Prepares contrast in power injectors or syringes under the technologists / nurse supervision.
  • Assists with escorting patients and families to and from radiology destinations.
  • Explains procedures, verify forms, transfer patients safely, position them correctly, and provide any post-exam instructions within specified timeframes.
  • Reports problems to appropriate department for repairs. Properly utilizes ancillary equipment like imaging coils and transducers, power injectors, and monitors.
  • Assists personnel, including students and house staff, in procedures, protocols, equipment operation, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintains essential paperwork and records.
  • Records and escalates any incidents related to patient safety, equipment malfunctions, and other relevant categories.
  • Enforces strict safety measures and protocols in all modalities.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and efficiently operating department through assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Chaperones sensitive ultrasound and MRI procedures; ensuring patient privacy and comfort.
  • Understands and adheres to the ALARA principle.
  • Sets up equipment for testing and calibration to maintain image quality standards.
  • Explains exams to patients and their families, and promptly address concerns and provide reassurance to patients and their families during procedures.
  • Handles patient data and images in compliance with privacy regulations, ensuring confidentiality and security.
  • Is prepared to respond to emergency situations within the department, such as contrast reactions or patient distress.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective teamwork.
  • Promotes a positive and enjoyable work environment by encouraging a sense of camaraderie and trying to have professional fun within the department.
