About The Position

Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to support physician diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury while also functioning as an integrated member of the interdisciplinary care team by providing delegated medical assistant and patient care technician services under the direction of licensed providers. Supports efficient clinic and imaging workflows while promoting safe, high quality, patient centered care.

Requirements

  • 2 years Experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Registered Technologist - ARRT Required
  • Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA Kansas license must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Workspace is a quiet and distraction-free allowing the ability to comply with all security and privacy standards.
  • Stable access to electricity and a minimum of 25mb upload and internet speed.
  • Dedicate full attention to the job duties and communication with others during working hours.
  • Adhere to break and attendance schedules agreed upon with supervisor.
  • Abide by Stormont Vail’s Remote Worker Policy and will review and acknowledge the Remote Work Agreement annually.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply rescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
  • Collects and documents patient data including height, weight, vital signs, and relevant clinical information during office visits.
  • Assists with rooming patients, preparing examination rooms, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment.
  • Performs point of care testing and phlebotomy within training, certification, and organizational scope.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
  • Promotes infection prevention through proper hand hygiene, standard precautions, and environmental cleanliness.
  • Coordinates patient tests, services, and follow up activities to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Performs clerical and support functions including answering phones, patient check in, and basic office duties as needed.
  • Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Assist in training students and/or new staff.
  • Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for school-aged through gerontological patients.
  • Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.
  • Adheres to staffing and scheduling practices.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve knowledge base by attending departmental meetings, in services and other educational activities.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Clinic MSD: Phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting nursing staff with rooming patients, cleaning exam rooms, answering phones, and checking in patients.
  • Women's Center: Performs, analyzes bone density testing utilizing dual energy x-ray absorptiometry equipment.
  • Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
