About The Position

This position provides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. It involves performing Radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. The role also includes performing medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. The individual is expected to exercise professional judgment in the performance of services, maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics, provide appropriate patient care, and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or an Associates from a Radiologic Technology accredited program.
  • OBMI and ARRT registered Mammography technologist.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • None (experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiography procedures
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patient and others.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Verifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.
  • Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
  • In agreement with state statute(s) and/or where institutional policy permits; prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
