About The Position

Under general supervision of the Imaging Manager, prepares equipment and patients for diagnostic imaging procedures. Safely and accurately performs radiographic and computerized tomography procedures and functions, as ordered and directed according to established practices and procedures. Maintains safe environment to deliver highest quality patient care and accurate imaging.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal radiology technology program required.
  • Current State of Texas license required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient care is administered independently.
  • Medium strength is required to position patients for examination or treatment.
  • Frequent: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing & walking.
  • Occasional: reaching, bending, squatting, climbing kneeling, twisting.
  • Visual and hearing acuity required; depth perception needed to examine exposed film for pertinent details.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented supervised performance of a minimum of 125 repetitions of computed tomography procedures according to the criteria of the ARRT preferred
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Proper setup, use and operation of X-ray equipment, utilizing correct settings for each examination.
  • Positions and instructs patients, and determines proper exposure factors for each radiograph.
  • Proper setup, use and operation of mobile X-ray equipment.
  • Uses proper safety standards and radiation protection devices.
  • Under direction of Radiologist, administers contrast media of different kinds for evaluation of internal organs and systems.
  • Proper setup, use and operation of CT scanner in accordance established procedures.
  • Attends all in-services and meetings as required.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI.
  • Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
