The practice of radiography is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and such as producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. This role is competent in performing advanced diagnostic x-rays, fluoroscopy, & OR procedures for all patient populations in acute and non-acute settings. The technologist has a complete understanding of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, and safety and service standards. They also have a complete understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.
