As an integral part of the Imaging services Team, the Radiologic Technologist provides support to the Department by performing diagnostic radiology procedures in a variety of clinical settings. This position requires the use of a pager while on duty and on standby. The role involves participating in after-hours standby and call back, as well as regular rotation of weekend hours. The technologist is responsible for their work schedule hours, including assigned weekend rotations, standby, and callback. They must provide radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to policy and standard, and always introduce themselves to the patient and explain the exam to be performed. The role also involves acting as a mentor and a source of information for students and less experienced technologists, and acting as an ambassador of goodwill when interacting with other staff members and departments. The technologist must use the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns. The position requires the ability to accept change as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development, and to adapt to changing procedures and goals in a cooperative and positive manner. They must also assist in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation with other departments, medical staff, and other employees.
