About The Position

Semmes Murphey Clinic is committed to implementing a team-based approach to provide excellence in patient care. The Radiology Technician will work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services and is expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. The CT/Radiology Tech primary responsibility is to assist the physicians by providing high quality imaging, they can use to make diagnoses or assess the success of treatment.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Strong communication effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
  • Performs routine diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
  • Administer IVs that contain contrast dues to enhance imaging
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed
  • Imports images from outside facilities into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
