This role involves enrolling in didactic training or completing MDIC training manuals to understand CT technology, physics, patient care, and safety procedures. It also includes studying anatomy, physiology, and pathology to recognize normal and abnormal imaging results, and gaining proficiency in using CT software and equipment. The trainee will participate in clinical rotations under the supervision of certified CT technologists, assist in patient preparation, operate CT machines, maintain patient records, set up imaging rooms, and execute paperwork and Radiology Information System functions. Additionally, the role involves setting up trays utilizing sterile technique, performing time out, preparing contrasts, assisting physicians, and starting and maintaining intravenous (IV) access. The trainee will learn and practice appropriate patient care techniques, assist in patient positioning, monitor patients, and interact collaboratively with other departments. Adherence to radiation safety standards, hospital policies, and ethical standards is crucial. The program aims to develop hands-on experience in operating CT scanners, troubleshooting, optimizing image quality, and interpreting basic CT scans. A key requirement is to agree to take the ARRT exam in CT imaging within 90 days of program completion.
