About The Position

Capital Health is seeking a Radiology Tech Assistant to commit to providing a respectful, caring, attentive, and efficient patient-centered experience. This role involves assisting with imaging exams, performing clerical duties including record keeping, and maintaining high-quality services. The assistant will communicate effectively with patients, families, and care providers, ensuring positive working relationships. Responsibilities include checking orders for completeness and appropriateness, scheduling exams, and determining the urgency of procedures. The assistant will adhere to established protocols, coordinate work assignments for a smooth workflow, and set up imaging rooms, ensuring proper isolation and precautions. Patient verification, clear explanation of studies, and providing information and resources to patients and families are key. Safe transportation of patients using appropriate methods and effective hand-off communication is required. The role also involves safely transferring patients using lifting devices, positioning patients for comfort and modesty, and exhibiting a caring attitude with professional and ethical conduct. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked area, accurately recording patient exams, following billing procedures, rotating within departments for coverage, and notifying staff of equipment malfunctions are also part of the duties. Adherence to corporate and departmental policies and SOPs, and performing other assigned duties are expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • No previous experience required.
  • AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic life support training.
  • Able to remain calm and professional in fast-paced imaging environment with potential of being exposed to severely ill and injured patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnostic imaging exams.
  • Perform clerical duties including record keeping.
  • Maintain high quality services.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care providers.
  • Interact with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.
  • Check orders for complete information and appropriateness criteria.
  • Schedule exams as needed.
  • Obtain sufficient information to determine whether the procedure should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.
  • Adhere to established section and organizational protocols, quality assurance guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating work assignments to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Set up imaging room to coincide with the scheduled examination.
  • Ensure room includes the use of proper isolations and precautions when needed.
  • Verify patients with patient name and date of birth.
  • Provide quality customer service and explain all studies to patient in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provide information and resources to patient and family.
  • Safely transport patients from location to location utilizing appropriate mode of transport and proper “hand-off” communication tools to receiving departments and other locations.
  • Safely transfer patient to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs utilizing multiple lifting devices.
  • Position the patient, ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
  • Exhibit caring attitude when relating to patients.
  • Engage in a professional and ethical conduct.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-stocked area.
  • Accurately record patient exams and follow proper billing procedures.
  • Rotate within departments for proper coverage and support as required.
  • Notify appropriate staff when equipment malfunctions.
  • Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
