The Radiology Technologist Intern performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection under the supervision of a registered technologist. This role involves properly identifying and performing diagnostic radiographic services on patients with the maximum amount of care, while evaluating the technical quality. The intern will assume responsibility for their assigned area, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available. They will demonstrate competency in RIS/HIS modules relevant to their duties and accurately adhere to downtime procedures for excellent continuity of care. Additionally, the intern is responsible for their own professional development through active participation in in-services and continuing education. They will provide educational information to patients regarding their examination, be knowledgeable about patient conditions and histories pertinent to the proposed examination, and be accountable for the quality of digital images sent to PACS. This includes verifying correct patient selection from the worklist and ensuring the accuracy of Medical Record information before sending to PACS. The intern will also be responsible for contributing to the department's success in achieving Press Ganey goals, ensuring every patient receives education and a personalized business card, and sending apology cards when patient expectations are not met.
