About The Position

This position is currently offering up to $50,000 in signing bonus for external applicants as well as internal per diem to full-time conversions. The Radiology Specialty Tech will perform all functions of a Radiology Technologist and will also be competent and actively perform Computed Tomography procedures. This role requires a minimum of six months of experience as a registered technologist, with CT experience being preferred. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a 24-month AMA approved radiologic technology program, hold ARRT(R) certification, and preferably ARRT(CT) certification or obtain it within one year of hire. A NYS injection license is required if working in a NY State facility.

Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures, including accurate patient positioning and appropriate QA on images generated prior to submission to the Radiologist.
Performs all CT procedures, including appropriate performance of procedures per radiologist protocol and IV insertion per aseptic technique.
Administers IV contrast per policy.
Proficient in patient care activities related to radiology, including relating patient information, following protocols for infectious diseases, and patient preparation (informed consent, IV contrast injection).
Knowledgeable in the correct use of the Radiology Information System, including scheduling, tracking, completion, and down-time procedures.
Works as part of a team to maintain high standards in radiology, attends in-service programs, and works cooperatively with other healthcare professionals.
Cleans and restocks rooms daily.
Deals with stressful situations (e.g., trauma).
Reports problems occurring with equipment to Imaging Leadership.
Transports portable equipment to operating room suite, emergency room, nursing units, and morgue.
Meets regularly at Radiology departmental meetings.
Reacts quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady, or unsafe situations like a fire, ensuring patient safety and sounding alarms.
Functions as a multi-modality technologist and may perform exams in other modalities based on training levels (i.e., bone density, mammography, etc); not required.
Other duties as assigned.
