Requirements

  • Experience as an ICU/CCU or Emergency Room Nurse.
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN Massachusetts License.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS PALS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a radiology nurse in a similar setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver or provide a continued level of quality nursing care afforded the patients who will utilize the services of all the subdivisions of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Hold the ultimate responsibility for thet direct and indirect nursing care in the following areas: general diagnostic, minor specials, mammography, special imaging, nuclear imaging, ultrasound and CAT scan.
  • Report directly to the Nursing Department and to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging in respect to DI issues.
  • Work collaboratively with respect to the implementation of orders as they are related to direct patient care.
  • Gather pertinent objective and subjective data using all available resources.
  • Assure, as appropriate, that a patient assessment and plan of care is in place.
  • Provide direct patient care as specified by nursing directives or indications of treatments specified (for the maintaining of continual patient care while in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.)
  • Inform and prepare patients for special procedure exams or other exams as specified in department policies or procedures.
  • Be aware of schedules so that there is a nurse provider for the needs of all patients in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Assist with patient difficulties post contrast material or media injections.
  • Respond to and orchestrate contrast reaction procedures.
  • Administer medications as determined necessary by the radiologist, assuring that proper pre-medication history has been obtained, documented, and related to the radiologist.
  • Perform urinary catheterization when necessary.
  • Perform patient preparation procedures when necessary.
  • Apply or change dressings or special appliances required.
  • Monitor or care for emergency room or critical status patients.
  • Maintain the ability and familiarity in the performance of the use of all special hospital equipment such as monitors infusion pumps, pacemakers, oxygen equipment, respirators, etc.
  • Report the need of repairs or preventive maintenance to the director of Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Assure cleanliness of equipment by following hospital policy.
  • Provide assistance in Nuclear Medicine performing stress tests.
  • Float throughout the facility, to meet the needs of the hospital.
  • Requires weekend and holiday rotation.
