Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and written materials
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group settings
  • Ability to speak English clearly and fluently
  • Ability to learn computer software programs used for scheduling appointments and accessing information
  • Proficiency using office equipment, including copiers and fax machines
  • Ability to multitask while interacting with patients in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, rates, and ratios
  • Ability to interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and solve routine problems
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to meet the physical demands associated with the position
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends on short notice or as directed
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening test

Nice To Haves

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients
  • Verify coverage and required documentation
  • Assist with check-in and check-out processes
  • Collect patient cost shares
  • Ensure all encounter records are accurately maintained
  • Manage multiple appointment schedules
  • Coordinate patient healthcare needs
  • Support clinical workflow
  • Answer incoming calls and route inquiries appropriately
  • Provide appointment reminders
  • Document patient interactions within the RIS
  • Enroll patients in services such as the Patient Portal
  • Assist with medical records management
  • Message handling
  • Image distribution
  • Create CD copies of medical images
  • Send digital images to outside facilities
  • Support patient flow throughout the department
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment
  • Observe waiting areas for any concerns
  • Contribute to organizational quality initiatives including PCMH, NCQA HEDIS, CMS Star programs, corporate strategic goals, and The Triple Aim
