About The Position

The Radiology Nurse provides safe and effective pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care in the Imaging Department. The role supports quality patient care in Diagnostic Imaging, including medication administration and patient monitoring during conscious sedation. The nurse assists with invasive-procedure scheduling, patient flow, screening, preparation, monitoring, education, and documentation. The position also supports department operations, staff orientation, performance improvement, emergency response, and professional standards.

Requirements

Associate degree in nursing.
Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) credential or licensure.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care in the Imaging Department.
Administer medications and monitor patients during conscious sedation.
Assist with scheduling invasive procedures and monitoring patient flow in Diagnostic Imaging.
Perform sterile preparation before invasive procedures and set up sterile trays.
Screen patients before invasive procedures, including reviewing lab values and contrast allergies.
Prepare medications and intravenous contrast according to hospital and department protocols.
Monitor patient condition throughout invasive procedures.
Provide pre- and post-procedure patient education.
Document patient care according to hospital protocol.
Respond to emergencies within the department.
Perform venipuncture as needed throughout the department.
Assist in orienting new or temporary nursing staff to their duties.
Assist with department performance-improvement activities.
Maintain appropriate clinical credentials and certifications and ensure current copies are on file.
Attend and participate in department meetings.
Demonstrate collaboration, teamwork, service orientation, integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, safety, and effective communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
