About The Position

The Radiology Nurse provides safe and effective nursing care in the Imaging Department, which includes pre-, intra-, and post-operative care. This role supports the hospital's mission by assisting in the delivery of quality patient care within the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Responsibilities include providing medication and patient monitoring during conscious sedation, assisting with scheduling invasive procedures, monitoring patient flow, performing sterile preps, screening patients prior to invasive procedures (including lab values and contrast allergies), preparing medications and intravenous contrast, monitoring patient condition throughout procedures, setting up sterile trays, performing pre and post-procedure patient education, documenting patient care, responding to emergencies, performing venipuncture, assisting in orienting new staff, and participating in performance improvement activities. The nurse must maintain appropriate credentials and certifications and attend department meetings, displaying a positive and supportive image of the hospital and department. Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and effective nursing care in the Imaging Department, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.
  • Supports the mission of the hospital by assisting in the delivery of quality patient care within the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Provides medication and patient monitoring during conscious sedation within the Imaging department.
  • Assists with scheduling of invasive procedures.
  • Assists and monitors patient flow in the Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • Performs sterile prep prior to invasive procedures.
  • Screens patients prior to invasive procedures to include lab values, contrast allergies, etc.
  • Prepares medications and intravenous contrast according to hospital and department protocols.
  • Monitors patient condition throughout invasive procedures.
  • Sets up sterile trays for invasive procedures.
  • Performs pre and post procedure patient education.
  • Documents patient care information according to hospital protocol.
  • Responds to emergencies within the department.
  • Performs venipuncture as needed throughout the department.
  • Assists in orienting new or temporary nursing staff to their respective duties.
  • Assist with performance improvement activities in the department.
  • Maintains appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice and ensures current copy is on file with the hospital/department.
  • Attends and participates in department meetings.
