About The Position

The Radiology Imaging Manager is responsible for the management of operational, financial and personnel activities of the Radiology department. This is a working leadership position responsible for departmental operations, staff supervision, imaging quality, regulatory compliance, and direct performance of diagnostic X-ray and CT procedures as needed to support patient care and department coverage.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current Medical Radiographer license.
  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography and CT
  • BLS required.
  • Minimum 3 years radiology experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in X-ray and CT.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, contrast administration, PACS/RIS, and hospital imaging workflows.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in rural hospital, CAH, emergency department imaging, or critical access environment.
  • Experience with Meditech, PACS administration, teleradiology, quality improvement, and regulatory survey preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures and computerized tomography procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician
  • Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical conditions for patients throughout the age continuum

  • Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources, and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff
  • Keeps informed of current issues including new procedures, developments, and innovation
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise

  • Uses quality improvement processes, programs or outcome to help improve department operation
  • Radiation safety program oversight, including shielding, signage, badge monitoring, lead apron inspection, and ALARA practices.
  • Coordination of equipment QA/QC, preventive maintenance, CT calibration/physicist scheduling, and timely correction of hazards.
  • Staff competency validation for each modality and piece of equipment.
  • Contrast safety, extravasation response, allergic reaction response, emergency preparedness, and adverse event review.
  • Radiology policy ownership and survey readiness.
  • Documentation standards for orders, reports, images, and retention.
  • Prepares staff schedules including “on-call” schedules; will take call to fill in only when needed
  • Maintains service records for all Radiology Equipment and ensures that all equipment is kept in good working order
  • Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, portables, and performs Computerized Tomography (CT) procedures
  • Uses sterile technique as required and cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors
  • Utilizes department computer systems, files, PACS, etc
  • To review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies
  • Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care
  • Accesses and administers drugs and contrast materials that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedure
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned
  • Acts as liaison between Radiologists and medical providers, as well as technologists, for communication, quality issues, discrepancies etc.
