About The Position

Under the direction of professional staff, this role assists with patient care to provide support services to the patient, Radiology unit, and professional staff. The Radiology Care Tech supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. This position requires the ability to provide age-specific care considerations for adults (18+ years) and children (12+ years). As a Radiology Tech Aide, this role functions as an assistant to the professional technologist in that modality. The aide conforms to safety standards dictated by regulatory agencies, maintains a clean work environment with adequate equipment and supplies, and performs patient care activities delegated and supervised by professional staff. This includes patient transport using appropriate safety techniques, assisting the technologist with room preparation, stocking supplies, cleaning, and moving/transporting patients. The aide must also respond effectively in emergencies, assist in the prevention of patient injury by initiating CPR when appropriate, utilizing safety measures, and reporting patients at increased risk for injury.

Requirements

  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification required
  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff, patients and family members
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrates accountability for own actions.
  • Demonstrates compliance with hospital dress code.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is a self starter. Is able to work independently, prioritizing and organizing workload effectively to complete tasks within the time frames delegated.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical terms.
  • Demonstrates understanding of MHS guidelines and reference, Infection Control guidelines, and MHS safety guidelines.
  • Proactive not reactive, analyzes problems accurately, develops recommendations and takes appropriate actions to solve problems.
  • No work experience required if currently enrolled a Imaging program.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clean work environment, adequate equipment and supplies: All Imaging Equipment is kept in good working condition; Related supplies are kept clean, and are at desired par levels.
  • Performs patient care activities delegated and supervised by the professional staff: Patient transport performed by (i.e. wheelchair, stretcher, or bed) utilizing appropriate safety techniques to prevent patient and self-injury.
  • Assists Technologist with room prep, stocking supplies, cleaning, and moving and transport of patients.
  • Respond effectively in emergencies and assists in prevention of patient injury: Initiates CPR when appropriate; Utilizes side rails and restraints to prevent patient injury; Reports to professional staff patients at increased risk for injury.
