About The Position

The Radiology Assistant supports technologists with ongoing patient care, including assisting, transporting, moving, and supervising patients in the radiology department. The role also helps manage patient flow through the imaging department. The assistant provides patient support during imaging procedures as directed by technologists or radiologists, helps with department operations and documentation, and maintains clean equipment and exam rooms in accordance with infection control and patient confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.
All required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

Associate's or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Safely transport and assist patients between departments and waiting areas.
Assist patients with transfers to and from wheelchairs, exam tables, stretchers, and toilets, and position or escort patients as needed.
Provide direct patient care during imaging procedures as directed by technologists or radiologists.
Review physician orders, research lab values, and provide patient education as directed by technologists.
Help manage imaging department patient flow and become familiar with department computer systems and programs under technologist supervision.
Become familiar with the hospital's Lift equipment.
Process paperwork and print and log camera quality control for nuclear medicine.
Develop and assemble films in preparation for reading.
Assist imaging clerical staff as needed.
Follow HIPAA and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
Clean and disinfect equipment and exam rooms according to infection control guidelines.
Keep stretchers and wheelchairs clean and blanket warmers and linens stocked.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
