About The Position

The Radiology Assistant provides transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Services Department, as requested with careful consideration of the patient’s condition. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers. St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Imaging Departments perform X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT exams in a variety of locations. We work closely with our partners at Cascade Medical Imaging to meet the imaging needs of our community and to support the ED, OR, Inpatient Floors, and Family Birthing Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Nice To Haves

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Six (6) months hospital patient transport experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follows health and Safety Policies and Procedures for quality patient care, transporting each patient to and from Radiology, professionally, and with careful consideration of their therapeutic needs.
  • Informs and reassures patients and visitors with the goal of alleviating anxiety and fear surrounding the Radiology process.
  • Informs those accompanying the patient regarding waiting areas, expected time lines, procedures.
  • Helps schedule and organize transportation of MRI patients to in-house for patient exams.
  • Performs cleaning of transport equipment and radiology rooms.
  • Assists with Radiology Clerical duties as requested.
  • Stocks linens and supplies.
  • Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.
