Radiology Assistant- Limited Casual Take the Next Step in Healthcare as a Casual Radiology Assistant at UPMC Northwest! UPMC Northwest in Seneca, PA is currently hiring two (2) Casual Radiology Assistants to join our Radiology team. This role is perfect for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and interested in contributing to high-quality care while building a strong foundation for future growth in healthcare. This position offers varied shifts based on department needs, typically working 3–4 days per week. Shifts may include Monday through Friday, primarily 3:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday, either 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The schedule includes working every other weekend, with no holiday shifts required. As a Radiology Assistant, you'll support technical staff to ensure efficient, timely, and compassionate care for patients undergoing radiologic procedures. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Radiology experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patients.
  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists technical staff by preparing the exam room and assisting the Technologist as directed.
  • Displays the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics. Enhances the image of UPMC and promotes professional good relationships.
  • Answers telephones and routes calls, taking messages as appropriate.
  • Works cooperatively with patients, professional staff, and other medical center personnel to maintain a good relationship.
  • Demonstrates Business Unit commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Performs image process duties.
  • Performs data entry of information into the Radiology Information System (RIS) as directed by Technologist.
  • Assists staff in transferring and transporting patients.
  • Acts as liaison between the Radiologists, the Technologists and the patient regarding waiting periods, status of test, etc. Instructs patients in changing clothes for exams, assisting them when necessary. Maintains adequate stock of gowns, etc. in dressing rooms.
