About The Position

Facilitates quality patient care by assisting patients in the radiology department including MRI. Supports the radiology technologists in the non-technical aspects of patient examinations that include sending and receiving images, completing paperwork for x-ray and MRI exams, and assisting patients to clinic rooms. Performs organizational, clerical, medical, and environmental tasks as needed to facilitate patient flow and efficient utilization of available resources. Job will primarily be assisting in the radiology department but may be assigned room loading duties to assist physicians in clinic as well.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
CPR Certification
BLS – Healthcare Provider Required
Must be able to see well enough to read patient charts and x-ray films, as well as visually evaluate patients and their physical environment.
Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with patients, physicians, medical staff, and coworkers.
Must be able to verbally communicate with patients, physicians, medical staff, and co-workers, as well as give verbal instructions for s-ray procedures.
Must be able to type and write, as well as maneuver patients for transport and procedures. Must be able to perform duties requiring fine motor skills.
Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds.
Must be able to maneuver patients and equipment for transport and procedure performance.
Does not operate x-ray or MRI machines and understands operating this equipment is not in their scope of practice.

Nice To Haves

May be required to work after hours, on weekends, or holidays.
May be required to provide services outside the clinical setting (i.e. at University or High School athletic events), or travel to offices throughout the state.

Responsibilities

Assist technologists with patient charts and transporting patients to different areas of the clinic as needed.
Assist technologists with non-technical aspects of MRI exams. This includes sending images and paperwork to radiologists after exams, preparing paperwork for MRI exams, and other clerical duties as needed.
Assist in opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures while maintaining a sterile field.
Assist in setting up instruments and equipment according to physician protocol.
Clean procedure room after use.
Enforce infection prevention/control procedures in patient care.
Assist with scheduling of procedures and tests when needed.
Skill in entering detailed data with precision and accuracy.
Correctly label patient documentation.
Assist patients to X-ray, MRI, and exam rooms.
Obtain vital signs as needed, blood pressure, height and weight.
Pull up appropriate electronic health records in exam room prior to appointment.
Set up instruments and equipment according to physician protocol.
Collect specimens, paperwork, etc.
Assist patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, and preparing for exam.
Dressing removal.
Cast removal, remove staples and sutures as needed.
Relay instructions to patients/families as needed.
Additional duties as delegated by supervisor.
Use computer to perform department functions, i.e. forms, data entry, e-mail.
Answer telephone(s) and successfully assist with call, including relaying messages and obtaining accurate information.
Ability to use Premier Bone & Joint Centers’ electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Maintain complete and accurate records and properly code each exam.
Document pertinent information in electronic health records.

Participate in Premier Bone & Joint Center’s and departmental in-services and staff meetings.
Perform patient care according to policies and procedures and standards of care of the facility.
Participate in performance improvement and quality assurance (QA) activities when able, to ensure department processes are efficient, effective, and provide the best quality of care to patients and staff, as possible.
Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff, including personal work areas.
Clean X-ray/Procedure Room/MRI as needed.
Utilize correct/safe techniques when operating equipment.
Restock equipment and supplies in procedure room, X-Ray, & MRI.
Restock changing room.
