The Radiology Assistant performs patient-related clerical, maintenance, and direct patient care activities including assisting, transporting, preparing, and observing patients to facilitate safe, effective, and confidential patient care. The Radiology Assistant also provides environmental and technical support including room and equipment preparation/set-up for procedures, and clean-up of room/equipment after a procedure is completed. Additional responsibilities include conducting appointment confirmation calls, monitoring patient schedules and workflow, providing updates, collecting films/CDs, obtaining comparison films, screening patients prior to exam, QCing patient schedules, dressing patients, contacting physician offices for missing orders, reporting/recording/filing patient and procedural data, performing venipuncture (required within 90 days of hire), and assisting with changing MRI coils. For Mammography and Ultrasound, responsibilities include monitoring schedules, ensuring orders are scanned, sequencing and length of appointments are correct, providing medical history questionnaires, adhering to radiation safety practices, and transporting biopsy specimens.
