This is a temporary position where the Radiology Assistant will greet visitors, answer and screen incoming telephone calls, and use specialized techniques in the transport of sick or convalescent persons. The role supports cost-efficient/effective delivery of care and participates in unit-based and hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement Programs. Responsibilities include preparing rooms for patients, assisting with patient preparation for procedures, obtaining necessary forms and information, and transporting patients, records, specimens, and equipment. The assistant will help ambulatory and wheelchair patients, escort patients, and assist sick or convalescent patients with mobility. They will respond to patient questions, relay information to staff, reinforce patient and family teaching, and maintain the confidentiality of all records. Data entry of patient information may be required. The role also involves observing policies for safe operation of vehicles and equipment, exercising special care for patient safety and comfort during transit, and responding to emergency patient situations. Participation in the orientation of other radiology technology aides may occur, along with other related duties.
