About The Position

This is a team-oriented role within a fast-paced, collaborative environment where radiology assistants play a key role in coordinating patient care. The position utilizes established workflows for all office-related tasks and provides quality patient care. The Radiology Assistant supports general, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, CT, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology technologists. Responsibilities include film filing and image management functions, working with all departments, patients, and providers to ensure necessary images/reports are available within the EMR and PACS, and performing general clerical duties to maintain radiology record management. The role may also assist in providing diagnostic radiographic procedures according to standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to be eligible for employment.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality patient care.
  • Supports the general, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, CT, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology technologists.
  • Responsible for film filing and image management functions.
  • Works with all departments, patients, and providers to ensure necessary images/reports are available within the EMR and PACS.
  • Performs general clerical duties to maintain radiology record management.
  • May assist in providing diagnostic radiographic procedures according to standards and guidelines.
  • Performs image management functions.
  • Able to perform reception duties, including clerical and filing to include reports into patient charts, locating, retrieving, and delivering patient records when needed.
  • Serves as an ambassador of goodwill in providing department services to all clinical and non-clinical personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper protection of patient's confidential information.
  • Performs image management within the PACS system, such as order entry, image reconciliation, importing/exporting imaging exams and reports.
  • Works with HIM for release of imaging records following established HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • May perform mobile imaging bone density testing.
