About The Position

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for procedures while adhering to radiation safety principles. This role involves assisting physicians in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures, ensuring patient education, and maintaining high standards of care. The position requires compliance with all state and federal regulations, radiation safety principles, and quality control standards. The technologist will also administer medical aid for adverse reactions, assist in training new staff, and effectively utilize radiology computer systems. Additionally, they will manage supply inventory, ensure customer safety, and act as a resource for complex equipment operation. The role also includes maintaining workflow for efficient case turnover, adhering to all Orlando Health policies, and staying informed on procedural changes and equipment updates. The technologist is expected to take responsibility for professional growth and continuing education to maintain licensure.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Required to maintain BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
  • Must live within 15-20 minutes from ORMC and must be able to clock in within 30 minutes of being called into emergent cases.

  • Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures and guidelines.
  • Assists the physician in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Assists the physician in all procedures as necessary.
  • Ensures that the patient’s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in their care.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health’s mission statement and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation and communication to the appropriate team members.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Applies sterile techniques and appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cross-contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Assists in the supervision of student technologists and the training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in supply usage, charging, and documentation.
  • Ensures the safety of all customers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge regarding location, use, and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training.
  • Maintains the use of customer service skills in communication with all Orlando Health staff, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools, and forms.
  • Performs as a mentor/preceptor for new staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism.
  • Understands the application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures.
  • Ensures that case turnover time is within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimal patient care.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Notifies Biomed and/or vendors as appropriate to resolve issues and reports incidents to the supervisor.
  • Assists in developing and implementing essential policies and procedures.
  • Stays informed on all procedural changes and equipment updates.
  • Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
  • Ensures work areas are well-stocked and organized.
  • Works at any facility as required by operational needs or organizational demands.
  • Assists in the collection of QA data.
  • Participates in processes to ensure that all OSHA, JC, FDA regulations are adhered to within the department.
  • Takes responsibility for professional growth and continuing education to maintain licensure.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Provides patient transport.
