About The Position

The Radiology Angiographer provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for procedures while adhering to radiation safety principles. This role is within the Women's Surgery Unit at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, a full-time position (40 hours) on the First Shift with on-call requirements. The WPH Peri-Operative Department, which includes the Operating Room Suite, Pre-Anesthesia Care Area, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit, offers peri-operative care to female patients meeting specific anesthesia criteria. The department provides services for elective surgical procedures and GYN Oncology Procedures, treating patients with local, general, monitored anesthesia care, or regional anesthesia. The surgical service staff provides flexible nursing care and services for elective scheduled, urgent, and emergency cases around the clock, with the WPH Surgery Department providing coverage 24/7 for urgent and emergent cases.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Required to maintain BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
  • None.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures and guidelines.
  • Assists the physician in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Assists the physician in all procedures as necessary.
  • Ensures that the patient’s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in their care.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health’s mission statement and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation and communication to the appropriate team members.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Applies sterile techniques and appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cross contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Assists in the supervision of student technologists and the training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in supply usage, charging, and documentation.
