About The Position

The Radiology Aide is responsible for facilitating workflow for all out-patient radiology modalities. This role involves patient care, including verifying patient identification, bringing patients to exam rooms, gathering pre-clinical information, and preparing patient folders. The aide also manages communication with doctors' offices and updates radiologists on pending patients. Additionally, the position requires knowledge of specific systems, transporting patients to the OR when needed, ordering forms, and adhering to radiation safety guidelines. The role also emphasizes maintaining effective working relationships and participating in continuing education.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Maintains current BLS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
  • Ability to establish and effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.
  • Must convey a positive attitude and present a professional appearance.
  • Must have effective communication (both oral and written) skills sufficient to resolve conflicts, and relay information concisely to staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Must have sufficient organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to effectively handle challenging and stressful situations and to balance and shift multiple priorities.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to frequent interruptions and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Radiology department experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respects and protects patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Provides safe patient care by verifying patient identification, bringing patients to exam rooms, asking pre-clinical questions and prior history.
  • Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Facilitates workflow for all out-patient radiology modalities by printing daily schedules, putting together patient folders, communicating delays, handling incoming calls and communication from doctors' offices, and updating radiologists with pending patients.
  • Performs specific tasks in various systems.
  • Transports patients to the OR as needed.
  • Orders forms as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all radiation safety guidelines, equipment, and supplies necessary for procedures.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and in-service education opportunities.
  • Participates in continuing education programs.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with peers, managers, and other members of the health care team.
