About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department, assisting Technologists with patients and equipment during diagnostic exams, and providing clerical support. The role requires good physical condition for tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and moving patients and equipment. The Radiology Aide must be able to communicate professionally, answer telephones, and take messages. The position also involves maintaining records, film processing, and ensuring a safe environment for patients of all ages.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of personal computers.
  • CPR Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Patient care experience preferred.
  • Meditech experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
  • Utilizes wheelchairs or stretchers to transport patients as scheduled.
  • Assures patient needs are met while in the Radiology Department, including comfort and appropriate clothing.
  • Assists Radiology Technologists with patients during diagnostic exams, including moving, lifting, positioning, and monitoring patients.
  • Provides clerical assistance and film processing support to Radiology Technologists.
  • Maintains departmental records using the hospital computer system.
  • Provides support coverage in the film library and for report distribution.
  • Performs film processing duties, including quality checks and chemical maintenance.
  • Assists Radiologists and Technologists with Fluoroscopy and IOP.
  • Operates the hospital computer system for film releases.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients by removing potential hazards and ensuring the environment is free of fall, slip, or trip risks.
  • Is sensitive to the needs of elderly patients, including hearing difficulties and reduced endurance.
  • Takes appropriate actions to ensure the physical security of children and complies with abduction prevention policies.
  • Provides accommodation for seating during extended visits or exams for elderly patients.
