About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 through community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. Position Summary: Performs a variety of clerical duties including compiling, transcribing, preparing, and maintaining records in Radiology and performs basic patient care and assistance. The Aide initiates the process of any patient who is to receive a Radiography exam as prescribed by his/her physician. Provides information to visitors and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Office experience with medical terminology and hospital procedures is preferred.
  • Basic clerical and computer skills are necessary.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Can be obtained within 30 days of start date or recertification can be obtained within 30 days of expiration.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the receptionist for the unit -greets visitors, answers questions, and accepts deliveries, forwards same to appropriate patient or staff member.
  • Assists the radiology staff in all patient care activities including, but not limited to: Registration, verifying identification, obtain medical history, enter orders correctly, monitoring vital signs, use cardiac, CO, pulse monitors as directed, other duties as assigned.
  • Prioritizes patients in accordance with standard protocol for need -emergent vs. routine care.
  • Takes appropriate action according to established procedures for addressing patient requests.
  • Contact other hospital departments to request and obtain supplies, services, and schedule appointments (i.e., Laboratory, Central Supply; etc.).
  • Assuring radiology areas are stocked, clean and equipment is in order.
  • Aids in general, basic patient care.
  • Answering the telephone and advising staff of needs beyond scope of position.
  • Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and/or significant others before completion.
  • Follows up on customer complaints as quickly as possible by identifying steps to correct problems, communicating with manager, implementing plan, and providing feedback to customer.
