About The Position

Under general supervision, performs duties of Radiology Aide I and also assists with advanced level procedures such as stereotactic, ultrasound, and guided core needle biopsies. Participates as a member of the imaging team and is dedicated to delivering excellent customer service. Provides related clerical duties to the practice, demonstrating a high level of competence. Note: Incumbent must be assisting with the advanced level procedures to use this job code. Location: 5 Neponset St. Worcester MA Schedule: 25 hours – Monday -Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Patient care / customer service skills
  • Time management skills
  • Computer skills
  • Proven excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use all electronic tools and applications relevant to the position, including phones, keyboards, computers, and software applications
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company policies and procedures
  • Accesses only the minimum necessary Protected Health Information (PHI) required to perform job duties
  • Actively protects the confidentiality and privacy of all PHI in written, verbal, and electronic forms
  • Complies with all Optum and Reliant departmental privacy policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Follows HIPAA privacy guidelines without deviation when handling protected health information

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably diagnostic imaging
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Previous experience in a position requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize activities

Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-procedure duties that include obtaining and documenting patient information, explaining procedures to patients to facilitate understanding and reduce anxiety, and performing the necessary setup for Sterile procedures
  • During procedures, serves as an aide to the radiologist and technologist by comforting the patient during the procedure, and passing supplies such as betadine and syringes to the radiologist
  • Completes post-procedure paperwork, inputs pathology order consent and time out information, helps clean rooms, and communicates pertinent information to the healthcare team
  • Orders and maintains supplies needed for procedures and/or mammography exams
  • Maintains exam rooms by routinely restocking all supplies
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and order entry related to pathology/cytology specimens
  • Provides backup coverage for other support staff as necessary
  • May assist with data collection activities for statistical reports, ensuring data is properly collected and accurate. May assist with tracking procedure outcomes
